John C. Livingston (1935-1999) was a professor and chairperson in the history department of the University of Denver from 1963-1964 and 1968-1999. His areas of expertise were United States intellectual and social history of the 20th Century, especially of the 1960s, and American Jewish history.

Scope and Content

The collection contains University of Denver history department files, personal correspondence, lecture notes and readings for classes Dr. Livingston taught at the University, manuscripts of books, curriculum guides, book reviews, and articles published during his career. In addition, there are files from the Rocky Mountain Jewish Historical Society and the American Jewish Committee. A section on the history of Denver includes photographs. The collection also contains Dr. Livingston’s class notes, papers and final exams from his bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral education. The collection includes audiocassettes of various historical programs from television and two VHS videotapes.
