The Iota Chapter of the Sigma Kappa Sorority was initially established at the University of Denver in 1908. In 1967 the chapter went dormant, and it was recolonized in 1988. The newly reopened chapter was short-lived, however, and closed again in 1993 when it released its national charter.

Scope and Content

The majority of the collection pertains to the most recent incarnation of the Iota chapter, from 1988 to 1993. The collection is divided into four series. Series 1 contains handbooks for the chapter officers, including President, Vice-Presidents for Pledge Education and Membership, Social Chair and Treasurer. Series 2 contains the chapter files, including correspondence, minutes of meetings, pledge manuals and reports. Series 3 contains materials related to rush activities, including party plans, policies, handouts and reports. Series 4 includes the chapter's memorabilia, consisting of award plaques and trophies, books, videos, and oversized photographs. Some of the memorabilia dates to the earlier period of the Iota chapter.
