DU's official U.S. depository status dates back to 1909. However, many of
the more than 700,000 documents found in the collection date from
the 18th century. Currently, the Library selects 70% of available
depository categories and receives an estimated 85% of unique titles
distributed each year. Titles are distributed in paper, microfiche
or electronic (CD-ROM or online) formats and are arranged according
to the Superintendent of Documents classification numbering system
(SuDoc). U.S. Documents are housed in several locations throughout
the library. Frequently used documents and helpful reference items
are housed in the Reference Area or the Reserve Desk.
