Classroom Troubleshooting Tips and Help

1. Before you begin, make sure the projector and laptop are turned off.
2. Connect the VGA cable. This is the cable which is connected to the cabinet. Connect the other end of cable to the laptop's VGA (monitor) port. Tighten the screws on both connectors to make sure they are fastened securely.
3. Connect ethernet cable to access the Internet if desired.
4. Turn on projector before turning on your laptop.
5. If computer image does not show on screen, press either Fn+F7, Fn+F5, or Fn+F8. The correct key combination will depend on your laptop's manufacturer and model, and may still be a different combination than those listed here.

3. Connect ethernet cable to access the Internet if desired.
4. Turn on projector before turning on your laptop.
5. Open the control panel on the laptop.
6. Select monitor.
7. Set monitor to mirror. This will enable you to see the image on both your computer screen and the LCD projector.

1. Check to make sure projector is turned on. You should be able to see light coming from the projector lens.
2. Check to make sure the VGA cable is connected securely to your laptop. and the thumbscrews are tight.
3. If you still do not see an image, the most likely cause is that the external video port on the laptop is turned off. To turn it on, you need to enter a specific keystroke combination- generally the Fn key plus one of the function keys. This key stroke combination varies from laptop to laptop, so check your laptop manual for details.

Plug a standard ethernet cable into the laptop's network port and into a working network jack located on the side of the cabinet.

You should turn off the laptop before disconnecting the VGA cable, the projector can stay turned on.

This means that your computer screen's resolution or refresh rate is set too high. To fix this, follow these instructions:

1. Right click on desktop.
2. Select properties and then select the tab Settings.
3. On the Settings screen set screen resolution to 1024 X 768 and then click ok.
